A Little Christmas Mojo

It is almost that time of year! Christmas is just around the corner! Can you believe it? Do you have all your cards made yet? I certainly don't. I decided to use he MojoMonday Sketch Challenge 106 to get another one out of the way. Plus, I got to use my brand newly released Papertrey Ink stamp set Peaceful Poinsettia & Signature Christmas. YIPPEE! NEW TOYS!!!

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Ruby Red 5 1/2 X 4 1/4
Card front: SU Kraft 5 1/4 X 4 (made my own DP, sortof, with PTI Peaceful Poinsettia stamped in Sahara Sand)
Other Paper used: Mellow Moss, Ruby Red DP, Kraft DP, Ruby Red, unknown cream, & white
Inks used: Ruby Red, Sahara Sand, Basic Gray
Stamp Sets: PTI Peaceful Poinsettia, Signature Christmas - I was VERY excited to discover that several of these stamps fit PERFECTLY in my SU oval punch and then I layered it on Ruby Red cardstock punched out with SU scallop oval after sponging edges.

I stamped the outline Poinsettia in Basic Gray and then the solid image in Ruby Red. Then I cut it out and popped it up on a stamped solid image in Ruby red. I put a little bling in the middle! The leaves are stamped in Mellow Moss.

I used Cricut Cartridge Fabulous Finds to cut out the squares at 2 1/4, 2 1/2, & 2 3/4 and the square rounded piece at 2" square in Ruby Red.

The ribbon is SU Mellow Moss.

I am going to make some more of these b/c I think it turned out pretty good. However, I will probably leave off some of the extra Mojo layers!!!

I started off this year making 10 Christmas cards a month and got about 40 done. I still need about 30-50. I didn't send out as many cards last year and probably need to do better this year.
How many cards do you still need?

Friday Family Update

Unfortunately this week I have not been feeling well. Just a cold, but still I have felt miserable. Sadly I missed my oldest child's choir performance. I'm sure the coughing would have been out of tune. I have heard her many times before; I am sure she was great! I did manage to get her picture in her cute costume.

I am so proud of the young women she has become.

Now these two! That is another story! Don't they look like they are up to NO GOOD!
They are the farthest apart in years of all my children at almost 8 years. And argue the worst by FAR, driving each other nuts and me completely bonkers!!
But through it all they still love each other! FYI, my son just got notice that he has the lead male role in his drama play. WAY TO GO!!!

We are now starting a two week fall break and hope to go to Sea World and the beach in a week. FUN! FUN!
The younger boys have been bouncing off the walls the past couple of days and with everyone home if I don't update next week send a medic OR A SHRINK! LOL!

PTI Blog Hop - My FIRST!!!

This card is my submission for Papertrey Ink's September Blog Hop. Here was our challenge:

"It is a current trend to see just how "green" you can be with your contributions to a cleaner environment. We want to focus this month on reusing & recycling portions of your newly arrived Papertrey order in an earth-friendly way! This month your challenge is to reuse, repurpose or recycle packaging from your Papertrey Package. "

Recipe:
Card Base - White 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 (folded)
Card Front - Raspberry Fizz 4 X 5 1/4
I took (which you can't see in the picture) Melon Mambo and sponge using the film on the clear wrapping on the PTI stamps to give it a more muted look then embossed it with Cuttlebug Perfectly Paisley folder.
The Scallop Circle image was stamped in SU Kiwi Kiss with SU Circle of Friendship Set, and then in Melon Mambo with PTI Border & Corners Circle then punched out with 1 1/4" circle. I layered it using the packaging from a PTI set (the green polka dot scallop) and Raspberry Fizz cardstock.
The main image was stamped with Stazon ink then I used Crystal Effect, Reinkers and Pearl Ex and attached using eyelets. Man, was this messy!!!!
The bottom strip was taking from PTI set packaging also!!
SU Kiwi Kiss ribbon and I think that is it!

Thanks for looking!
How do you like my "GREEN" card using items in my PTI packaging?
Talk about recycling!

A Card for Grandma

I have been thinking about my grandmother a lot since I ordered "Women of Life" Stamp Set from Papertrey Ink. I didn't have a set with any kind of sentiment with grandmother or aunt. This set is so versitile. I know I will get a lot of use out of it! This is my submission for MojoMonday Sketch 105.
My grandmother was so involved in my life when I was growing up. She was the type of grandmother that played games, stayed up late, cooked ALL my favorites, and was just fun to be around. I spent many nights with her, she was more than just a grandma but also a friend. I have so many fond momeries of the times we spent together. She is a lot older now (as am I), and I live so far away that I do not get see her very much and it makes me sad. I made this card to tell her "Thanks for being such a great grandma!" I call her Maw-Maw, still. Somethings you never out grow.

Recipe:
Card base: PTI Raspberry Fizz - 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 (folded)
Card front: Sweet Blush - 4 X 5 1/4 - Embossed with ProvoCraft Birds & Swirls folder
Ripe Avacado 1 1/2" Circles - I inked up my Floral Screen Folder in Old Olive (I just did direct stamp pad to folder) and then embossed the circles. Don't they look like leaves or grass or stems?
I stamped Melon Mambo (matches Raspberry Fizz pretty good, huh?) on Sweet Blush then used my SU scallop circle punch. I used the next size up EK success scallop punch in Raspberry Fizz to layer. I stamped a little center flower in So Safron and a center with Sahara Sand.
The sentiment was stamped with Melon Mambo on white then layered with Raspberry Fizz.
The ribbon strip on the bottom is SU Melon Mambo. I haven't gotten all the PTI ribbons YET!!!
I put a layer of white cardstock inside (4 X 5 1/4) and stamped a smaller flower image in Melon Mambo with an Old Olive Center.

This was my first time to ever use or have PTI card stock or stamps, and I LOVE THEM!!! I hope to participate in their monthly Blog Hop on the 25th. So, please check back again to see what else I can come up with my NEW stuff!

Thanks for looking! What do you think?

Family Update

"I have to admit it's getting better. A little better all the time ....."

This week has just flown by and been a pretty good week. All is well and you can't ask for much more than that!

I am in a Stamp Club, and we met this past Thursday. WEEELLLLL, while I was gone my wonderful husband got a hold of my two baby boys. Haircut time! Surprise for mom! I am a little sadden by the fact that they don't look so much like babies anymore. Especially my two year old, the one on the right, that turns three tomorrow! I will have two three-year olds for a little over a month! It was REAL fun when they were both TWO! I loved telling people I had two two-year olds, and they aren't twins. Actually, they are. They are called Irish Twins, when siblings are less than a year apart.

Grandpa calls us "T & T" or is it TNT!!

This is the youngest, the baby, the runt, the spoiled one, the boss, the princess, pick one!

She loves crackers!

But not clean up time!!

Sad, huh?

For the rest of us, it is just more of the same!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

Y'all come back now, ya here!

(Yes, I was born a southern girl)

Evolution of a Stamper!

I needed a card for a friend who just had a baby boy. And I had recently gone through some things in my craft rooming trying to clean up. Yeah, you read right I tried to clean my craft room!!! Really I just look through all my stuff and move it around or sometimes go through my stuff, give up sorting, and put it right back. Anyway, I found a few "Thank You" cards that were leftover from four years ago that I made to give for meals and gifts that we had received. I remember (I think) that I liked them, and I guess they are alright but just not quite enough for me now. So, I decided to repurpose one of them. It wasn't hard because the adhesive I used back then didn't stick so well. Sorry to anyone who has one of my old cards that are falling apart!

I used one of the very first stamp sets I ever purchased, Cuddles & Tickles. If fact, it was my very first order ever of any kind of stamp. Excuse me while I reminisce. I was pregnant with my now 5 year old daughter ( I have been pregnant a lot) and was the leader of the women organization of our church. I have a very, very, good friend, one of the best women you could ever meet. Anyway, she was one of my counselors at the time and she was or rather is a stamper and a scrapbooker. She invited me to go to a home party with her, paper crafts or such. I wasn't really very excited but went anyway. I had a BLAST!! And being the women's group leader I thought it would be nice to make cards for the sisters in our ward. We did, at that time, have 10 sisters pregnant so I knew I could use this set. The other set I got was Simple Sketches. So I could make birthday, thinking of you, and thank you cards. I bought I few ink pads, a black pad and the colors I thought I would need and I think I got the chalks. I remember the hostess said she just cleaned her stamps with baby wipes, had that one covered. I did however, find out that baby wipes just wasn't going to work for me. I know lots of women that use them and love them. It's just not for me. I got some card stock from Wal-Mart and I thought I was set. I quickly became an addict though and turned around and ordered $150, sort of like a catty workshop, I guess. And now I am sure, over 600 sets later, here I am! THANK YOU Diane!!

Recipe for the new and improved card is: I added an extra layer of card front. Somehow there was enough room???? The darker blue is just some card stock that I had in my scraps. I added the same color in a Scallop Square and square layer. I changed the "Thank You", of course. That would have been silly to thank her for having a baby. It is not like she will give him to me or anything. I switched it with the Baby Boy sentiment from SU Word on Word set and layered it with the same colors. Some ribbon and buttons were added and voila! NEW card!

Thanks for checking in and reading all my ramblings.
Which do you like better?

Mojo Monday 104

Yesterday was my husband's birthday, and I hadn't had a chance to make him a card yet. So I decided I would use the MojoMonday Sketch 104. All these masculine cards are killing me.

Of course the conversation went a little like this: "Happy Birthday! Here is your card. Hurry up and read it so I can take a picture of it. I need to get it uploaded." Okay it wasn't quite like that but almost! He loves me! So it is okay. He even helped me set up for the picture. He has class on Monday nights so we didn't really even celebrate yet. We will do that this weekend. He will have to share his special day with our very soon to be three year old son.

Recipe:

Card base: SU Certainly Celery 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 (folded)
Card front: SU Chocolate Chip 4 X 5 1/4
Card front layer: DP 3 3/4 X 5 sponged with Chocolate Chip
All the designer paper I used on this card I had setting out. I had picked up from the FREE table at a monthly crop that I go to. I have NO idea what kind of paper it is. It was from obviously from a coordinating set and I just fell in love with it thinking WHO would give this away! CRAZY!!!
The strip layers are layered on top of Chocolate Chip. One in the DP and the other in Certainly Celery stamped with Stampin Up Starstruck Stamp Set in Yep, you guessed it - Chocolate Chip!
I used nestibilities in Chocolate Chip and DP for the large circle then added a little with the dots in a white Gel pen. Not sure if you can see in the picture but I used my Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Distressed Stripes in the DP circle to give it a little dimension.
I used my Marvy pink (mega ?) punch for the smaller circle in Certainly Celery. The stamps are Denami Design in Chocolate Chip.
The stars were done with SU smaller star punch and Fiskar's larger star punch. I thought the larger star needed something and went old school and pulled out and dusted off my original Stars Sizzix Die.
AND eyelets AGAIN!!!! I am down three more eyelets. ONLY 1,846,246 to go! Just kidding! I haven't actually counted!

Thanks so much for looking! What do you think?

Family Update

What is it about boys and the toilet!?! We potty trained the boys (they are almost 3 and 4) about a month ago and I have to admit that it went better than I thought it would. However, we had a couple of really bad days last week with some accidents, and I felt like I just wasn't going to make it. I was almost ready to just pull out the diapers!!!! AND I think their daddy taught them a little about clean up using toilet paper to wipe up the sprinkle when they tinkle so I have had to literally pull big wads of toilet paper out of the toilet! GROSS!! I think diapers might be cheaper than all the toilet paper, washing, and flushing b/c they have to flush, flush, flush! OH how much fun it is to flush!! And oh how traumatized they are if someone else flushes! They are both so independent. Not to mention they are a little hit and miss. More miss than hit!!! All is better now though. I hope and pray!

I haven't had much time to stamp or scrapbook much b/c I have been, well, besides cleaning up pee-pee, unmounting my Stampin Up stamps during any free time I get. What a job!!! I am starting to feel like I am getting my craft room back. YIPPEE!!! (no pun intended! LOL!) All my many, many sets were taking over!

My new camera that was estimated to get here on the 3rd wasn't even shipped until the 2nd. It did finally come and I love it. I will be posting my first video tutorial next week.

My teenagers are extremely busy now that school has started with one in scouts, band, choir, & drama, and the oldest, a senior, in choir, clubs and activities at school, and is secretary in her church young women's group.

Homeschooling kindergarten is going great! I am using
Abeka books. I really like their materials and my kids do too. I went ahead and got some preK for the boys to get a jump start.

That's about all for my little family update!

Another Mojo Monday!!!

How did I EVER survive with out Mojo Monday! Here is what I came up with Mojo Monday 103.
I made this card for my dad whose birthday is actually today! Yeah, he will get it late, but he is used to it. He loves all things sports. So I think he will like it.

Recipe:

Card base: Stampin Up Kraft 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front: SU Chocolate Chip 4" X 5 1/4"
Card front: SU Real Red - Embossed with Provo Craft Diamonds in the Rough Folder
& layered with SU Real Red Designer Paper
I stamped the main image in Basic Brown and used SU markers to color it. The image is from a TRL Designs - 130 Sports Border. The sentiment at the bottom is from SU Teeny Tiny Wishes.
I layered the image with Real Red and Chocolate Chip.
The layers behind the image I made using Stamp Camp Cricut cartridge in Kraft and Chocolate Chip. The ribbon I bought a long time ago at Cosco in a scrapbook kit. It was a really good deal!!!

Thank so much for taking the time to take a peek!
