Baby is here!

Okay the baby was actually born December 17th but with company, holidays and everything I had to put my blogging life on hold for a bit.  I am hoping to get back into the swing of things soon.

He was 8 pounds 6.7 ounces and 20 1/2"!
And 8 days early!

Everything went really well, but the baby was born with some bruising on his face (which I have never seen but apparently is not uncommon) and I somehow now have a new antibody in my blood that has never been there before which all put the baby at a higher risk for jaundice.  My husband and I have different blood types and our kids have his type and I'm not sure I understand (after having it explained so many times) but either this baby or the last baby's blood mixed a little with mine which caused the antibody to appear.  So there were some extra texts and precautions but thankfully he never even showed ANY signs of turning yellow!

I already have planned a scrapbook page of his little bruised face with the title, "You should see the other baby!" and maybe some boxing gloves!  LOL!

The bruising was gone in less than two days!  Before even coming home!

Also this labor was a little harder than my last three which had me a little spoiled!  I think his shoulders were wider than the others and he took a little work and extra pushing to get them out.  So I wasn't quite up as soon as I'm used to. Still no stitches though!  YEAH!

Just some pictures with loving siblings!  Doesn't he look lucky and well loved?

Let's go HOME!!

I'm home!

Our little family is complete!

Thanks so much for all your well wishes!  They have meant the world to me!

Trying to clean up cards!!!

I really need to clean up my craft room!  But when I get started I start thinking I should make some cards with these papers while they are out!  So that's what I started doing!  I got two done yesterday!  Which is really good considering my day!  I am really tired lately and I had an NST (non-stress test).  I usually call them stress tests because just getting the kids all lined up with care, driving over there, waiting for the machine (which isn't usually too long, but my time is soooo limited and I have soooo much to do!) stresses ME out!  Thank goodness it is the baby taking the test and NOT ME!!  LOL!!

Anyway!  Here are the two I came up with.  I will do my best to give the card recipe but these were from scraps and cut outs I had in my plastic box of die cut outs.  I have mentioned that I save everything!  Usually the kids keeps my die cuts down doing all their crafty things.  I can't imagine a mother having more than I have of drawings, cards, artwork, ect.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Not Quite Navy 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Soft Sky  4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  DP from My Mind's Eye "Countdown to Christmas" pack, orange, black, white
Ink:  Not Quite Navy, White
Stamps:  PTI Fillable Frames #6 (sentiment), SU Lace Snowflakes
Accessories:  SU District Ribbon originals, Cuttlebug & Snowflake Dots embossing folder, Cricut & Doodlecharms cartridge, SU Word Window and Modern label punches

I have no idea at what size this was cut at and I will have to edit later with the cartridge it is from.
I think it is Cindy Loo!
NOPE!  It is from Songbird Cartridge!

Recipe:
Card Base: Red 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Glorious Green 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  DCWV "Tis the Season" pack
Ink:  Real Red, Glorious Green
Stamps:  SU 1995 Retired Set, PTI 2008 Holiday Tag Collection
Accessories:  Stamp 'N Stuff Emerald Green embossing powder then colored in with Prismacolor pencil Grass Green, Red Buttons, Real Red ribbon, Cricut & Songbird Cartridge

Just a Little Update

Besides OB appointments I have been playing around with scraps left out from other finished cards that are lying around needing to be either used or stored away BUT definintely NOT thrown away!  What were you thinking!?!  I will post some pictures tomorrow.  This is a late night post and I really should be in bed since last night my two year old ended up in my bed and I ended up with feet in my back and very little sleep!

Baby is doing great!  I'm due Christmas day but we are planning on inducing a week early!  Which is great!  Anything to get out of some appointments!  They are wearing me down.  Speaking of wearing me down .....  I have been moving a bit more slowly, getting less and less done.  My house, well let's just not talk about that!!!!

Oh, and one more thing!  All my cyber deals have come in and I have been drooling over all my new cartridges.  Can't wait to share!!

Thanks for checking in today!

Holiday Polar Bear card - Joys of Season

I didn't have very much time to craft today so I just quickly put together a card.  It probably only took me 10 minutes!!  I know I used the same punches and stamp for my sentiment as yesterday but it was still out and just too convenient not to use them again!  But at least I am getting my cards done!  Baby will here soon and I just can't put them off any longer!

Tonight I'm going to a crop!  Maybe I can get some more done, but I tend to do more talking than working!  Did I mention there will be snacks!!!  Hello, how much work can be done with food in the room!

Thanksgiving night I went to Michael's and picked up a couple of paper packs!  I really did NEED them because in making my Christmas cards I realized that in all the paper that I have (and I have a lot!)  I didn't have very much Christmas packs.  So I bought two!  Yes, only two!  I get points for showing such control!!!  I used one pack yesterday and one today!  They have some really cute paper in them.

Anyway, Here's what I quickly came up with:

Polar Bear was cut at 2 1/2" from Joys of Season Cartridge.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Real Red 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front: My Mind's Eye "Countdown to Christmas" pack 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Black,
Ink: SU Real Red
Stamps:  SU Warmest Regards
Accessories:  Cuttlebug & embossing folder, Real Red ribbon, Black marker for eye, Cricut & Joys of Season Cartridge, SU punches, Pom Pon for tail

Challenges! Challenges!

There are so many challenges out there and there is probably a brand new blog started everyday devoted to them but I've had some questions about what challenges I participate in sometimes so I thought I would take a little time to put them down in one place to share with you and for ME!!!

MojoMonday Sketch challenge is always a good place to get your week off to a good start!  And on the first Monday of the month there are prizes!!!!

I like to visit Splitcoaststampers.  When I have time you can find me chatting on the message boards!  Over there they post a new challenge everyday (sometimes two) from new techniques to color combinations to sketches for both cards and scrapping!  My favorite and the one I try to always do is posted on Tuesdays and it is a color combination challenge.

Color challenges must be my favorite because I also like to participate in The Play Date Cafe challenges.  They post a new color challenge every wednesday and have sponsors that give prizes for the "Cup of the Week"!  Plus, they have a badge rewards to post on blogs for their top picks as well!

Another GREAT color challenge is The Color Dare!!  They feature Stampin Up colors (but of course you can substitute with similar colors) with a new challenge every Wednesday!

Since I love to use my Cricut to make crafts I of course was exciting to find Cricut Cardz Challenge blog!  They post a new challenge using the Cricut every Wednesday.  If you have a Cricut be sure and check them out!  FUN!

I'm in a blog group Paptertrey Paper Dolls!  We used to post a new challenge every Thursday but now it is only every other Thursday.   The challenge link is up for over two weeks and can be anything.  It just depends on the host!  This is not just for our group anyone can participate so please check it out!

JUST RECENTLY STARTED!!  RIGHT HERE on Hiding in My Craft Room challenges posted every Saturday!  With a montly GIVEAWAY for one lucky participant with up to 5 chances to enter depending on how many weeks in that month!  The schedule for the weekly challenges is:
1st week: A Color Challenge
2nd week: Super Scraps Saturday (even though you have all week!) - time to use up some of those SCRAPS! I personally need this challenge for myself!!!
3rd week: Try a Technique Week
4th week: Mix it Up! This challenge will vary from week to week!
5th week: Freestyle! This week you can enter with ANY creation!  So be sure and link up for a chance to win!

Another challenge blog I found through a blogging friend is The Paper Players.  They post a new challenge every Sunday.  I don't do much if any crafting or blogging on Sunday's but you have 6 days to get your challenge posted.  The type of challenge varies from week to week.
Here's their challenge schedule
Week One: Theme Challenge
Week Two: Colour Challenge
Week Three: Clean and Simple Challenge
Week Four: Sketch Challenge
Week Five: Anything Goes

There are of course so many more challenges out there!  And of course, I don't even get all the ones I listed as some of my favorites done each week, but it's nice to at least check them out!

Please feel free to post in the comments your favorite challenge/s and share!  I would love to see what else is out there.

Thanks so much for visiting me while I am
Hiding in My Craft Room!

Be sure and check back tomorrow, probably late afternoon early evening.  I'm kicking off a challenge of my own with prizes!

Have a great crafting day!

Here's what I came up with.  I hope you like it.

Super Scraps Saturday!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  We did!  My oldest kids that are in college were here and we are hoping and praying that they don't run into any of that western weather on the way back.

After all the Holiday festivities I finally got some time out of the kitchen and stores to do some crafting.  And boy did I need some down time after cooking, cleaning, shopping, and more shopping!  I found some great stuff at really great prices.  And got a big chunk of my Christmas shopping done!  YIPPEE!!  I was happy and relieved that a lot of stores had there sales available online.  I got some great new Cricut cartridges that I can't wait to share with you. I'm super excited!!!

I thought it would be fun to just rummage through by scraps and precuts to see what I could come up with.  I had so much, too much to choose from.  I really need to have more "use your scraps" days or challenges.

I hope you like it!  Here it is:

You're a Hoot! - Hoot N' Holler Cartridge

Here's a card and video tutorial I made a few weeks ago!  I made it using the colors from Splitcoaststampers color challenge CC294:  Breezy Blushing Cake (Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride, and Crumb Cake).  I made it back when I was having internet and computer problems.  I thought we had everything on our computers fixed but it took some doing getting my editing software up and running properly.

I hope you like it!

Part 1 of my video tutorial is my thought process (scary!) of how I make a card using a color challenge, a brief exploration and preview of the cartridge, and cutting the image.

Part 2 of my video tutorial is putting it all together!

Owl was cut at 3 1/4"

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Blushing Bride 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front: Baja Breeze 4" X 5 1/4",  Crumb Cake 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU DP Blushing Bride

Snowman with Cap! - Play Date Cafe Challenge

Another great challenge from Play Date Cafe!  I'm a woman of very few words today.  Have another OB appointment in a little bit.  Enjoy it while you can!  LOL!

I used Stampin UP Real Red, Old Olive, & Tempting Turquoise.  I really like these colors together, surprisingly even for Christmas!

Snowman is from Doodlecharms!
I cheated on the snowman!  He was left over from another card.  He was either too big or too small, but PERFECT this time!  YES, I keep everything!  I think I have a problem!  LOL!

The hat was cut at 1 1/4" from Simply Charmed cartridge.  I only used the hat the layer 2.  At this small size the face really doesn't show up which was fine by me!  I didn't need it!
Recipe:
Card Base: SU Tempting Turquoise 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Old Olive 4" X 5 1/4", Real Red 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU Real Red DP, Orange for the nose, white, black
Ink: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise for sponging on the hat rim that was originally cut out in whiteStamps:  PTI Signature Christmas
Accessories:  SU Tempting Turquoise 1/4" ribbon, Real Red Striped ribbon, Pom Pom for the hat, Cuttlebug & D'vine Swirl embossing folder,  Cricut & Simply Charmed

New Gypsy cartridge downloads are easy! Simply connect your Gypsy to your computer and you'll automatically be prompted how to start. In just a few steps, you'll be able to download all images for all five cartridges! And with Gypsy, you'll have all the cartridge artwork and keypad overlays on your Gypsy screen, so there's no actual cartridge, handbook, or packaging.

Also, cricutmachine.com cartridges are amazingly low!  AND they are shipping FREE if your total is $200 or more.  Get some friends together and save on shipping!  That's what I did!  FYI, I'm not affiliated with cricutmachine.com, but tell them I sent you and maybe I can be!  LOL!!!

I found a really fun challenge for a Christmas themed card or project over on Really Reasonable Ribbon with PRIZES!  Be sure and check it out!

Season's Greetings - Christmas Solutions

Trying to get this week's mojo on and doing a Mojo Monday sketch is the perfect way to do it.  Of course, with OB appointments EVERY Monday (and Thursday) until the baby comes.  My week officially starts on, I guess, Tuesday!

Here's what I came up with.  It's kindof funky! I hope you like it!

Ornament was cut at 2.25" high.
The Crushed Curry (yellow) is not this bright in real life!

Here's a picture of how I placed the images on the Gypsy mat.  Then I just matched up the papers with the cuts.  I ended up not using all the layers.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Rich Razzleberry 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Crushed Curry 4" X 5 1/4" (I made my own DP again), Handsome Hunter 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU Confetti Cream
Ink: SU Handsome Hunter, Rich Razzleberry,
Stamps: PTI Faux Ribbon, Background Basics:  Christmas
Accessories:  Stickles "Diamonds", Wal-Mart ribbon, Cricut, Gypsy, & FREE download Christmas Solutions Cartridge, SU Eyelet border punch

Cool Snowman - Gypsy Smiley Cards

I just keep finding these new (to me) challenges!  This card is for The Paper Players, which was to make a project or card using a snowman, and it is also for Papertrey Pals which was to use dry embossing.  I kept it simple but am pleased with the way it turned out.  I hope you like it too.

Here's what I came up with:

Again, I made two!  Two more down!!!
And notice I'm taking everyone's advice and doing cards that can be late so we can include the baby in our family Christmas photo.
Thank you all!

Snowman and layers were cut at 3.75" high.
There is a layer that looks like cute little buttons, but I decided to use real buttons instead.
Looking at it now I wish I had stamped a little checked background on the scraft and/or ran it through the Cuttlebug for some texture.  Oh well, next time!
I still think he looks Super Cool though and
"Warm Winter Wishes" is the perfect sentiment from him!
AND I must give a shot out to Papertrey Ink!  Their sentiments are wonderful and so many of them fit perfectly in punches!
FYI, I don't work for nor do I design for them!
I'm just a fabulous and happy customer!

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Blue Bayou 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Soft Sky 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU Real Red, black, white
Ink: Real Red
Stamps:  PTI Stocking Prints (sentiment)
Accessories:  SU Oval punches, Buttons, needle and thread, Gypsy & Smiley Cards download, Cricut, Cuttlebug & Snowflakes embossing folder, SU Ribbon Originals "District"

Happy Veteran's Day! - Stand & Salute Rerun

Tis the season.....  for my kids to get sick!  Which of course I can only last so long taking care of the little ones, staying up with the youngest, doing the "normal" mom duties before I start dragging BIG TIME!  Plus, I have my OB appointment in a little bit.

I decided I would do a rerun of the card I made my husband last year to say not only "Thank you" for his military service but more importantly what he does for me and our family.

He is in the military (Air Force) and to say he loves airplanes is an understatement.

Here is a video tutorial of how I made it. I hope you enjoy it!

Recipe:
Card base:  Stampin Up Night of Navy 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  White Cardstock 4 X 5 1/4
Other Cardstock/paper:  Red Christmas Paper from Target 3 1/4" X 5 1/4" - embossed using Cuttlebug Stars Folder, Silver Christmas Paper from Target (I got these last year at Christmas time in the Christmas decorations department), Black, Real Red
Stamps: Women of Life (sentiment only)
Ink: SU Night of Navy
Accessories:  Ribbon from $1 bin from Target, Cricut & Stand & Salute Cartridge, Cuttlebug & Stars embossing folder

Thanks so much for checking in today!

I also wanted to say thank you for all the great comments from Tuesday's post!  It seems to be unanimous!  So far anyway!  I have already made some of my Christmas cards that say "Merry Christmas" but I do think from now on I will make them "Season's Greetings", "Happy Holidays", ect.  Since they will probably be late!

Merry Christmas Wreath - Christmas Solutions

My husband is working nights this week and so my routine is out of groove.  But I did find some time today to participate in this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  Plus, I couldn't resist to make SOMETHING with one of my new FREE downloads on my Gypsy!!!  I decided to be good and work on Christmas cards first using the Christmas Solutions Cartridge.

I made two!  YIPPEE!!  Two more Christmas cards down!  I do have a little dilemna though.  The baby is due Christmas day but my doctor will induce early.  I am hoping for about a week early.  My dilemna is this:  do I wait and have our family picture, that I include in our Christmas cards, so that the baby is in the picture, however, my cards will probably be late (not the first time that has happened!) or do I go ahead and just get a picture done sooner so that the cards are on time?  Two years ago my little girl was born on the 7th of December (induced) and we had our family photos taken on the 12th which was soon enough to get the cards out in time but this year!  What do you think?

Anyway, here's what I came up with.  I hope you like it!

Wreath and layers were cut at 3" high on the Gypsy.
Then I ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Floral Screen embossing folder.
On the bow I used a Zig Painty pen and traced the cut lines to give it a little more depth.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Cranberry Crisp 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front: Always Artichoke 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU River Rock, Confetti Cream, DP from Greetings of teh Seasons Paper Pack
Ink: SU Cranberry Crisp
Stamps:  SU Teeeny Tiny Wishes
Accessories:  SU Bravo Burgundy Ribbon, Mini Gold brads, Zig Painty Pen, Cuttlebug & Floral Screen and Allegro embossing folders, Word Window & Modern Label punches (I've been using these a lot lately!!), Cricut, Gypsy & FREE Christmas Solution Cartridge
