Celebrating 50,000+ blog hits with BLOG CANDY!!!

I can't believe how fast my little blog has hit 50,000+ views!  So as a big THANK YOU I am offering BLOG CANDY!  All you have to do to be entered into the drawing is leave a comment on this post saying what you like to do with your family!

Tonight, Monday night, is our Family night.  I made some Sugar Cookie dough and I will, after a short spiritual lesson, only about 5 - 10 minutes (very little people with very short attention spans!) let the kids decorate cookies with icing and sprinkles.  Here's the recipe I use!  Remember I have 5 kids that will be eating them!  Plus, I don't cook it all at once!  I refrigerate the rest for another day.

Sugar Cookies

8 cups flour
6 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 1/3 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
4 eggs
4 tablespoons milk
4 teaspoon vanilla

Stir together flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.

Beat butter and shortening for 30 seconds; add sugar and beat till fluffy.  Adds eggs, milk, vanilla; beat well.  Add dry ingredients to mixture.  Cover and chill at least 3 hours.

I just use my medium Pampered Chef scoop and place them on a Stone bar pan.  I have two pans and cook a total of 24 at a time.  They will probably ALL get eaten tonight!

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.  I take them out even if they look not quite done.  By the time they have set and are cooled they are PERFECT!  We like ours soft and chewy!

Here's the giveaway!

I will pick the winner using Random.org this weekend and post it Sunday night.

Thanks for checking in and all your supposrt!

Good luck!

Have a great crafting day!

  16. My family is all grown and live far away. We have five children and lots of grandchildren in London, Oregon, Indiana and Arkansas and we live in California. My favorite thing to do with them is to text them so we can stay in touch between visits and they like to text back. We also Skype with the London group and can see them on video. When we do get together we love to visit over a family meal and catch up. I look forward to spending time with the grandchildren.

  29. Since we live in Florida we do not get to see the kids very often. But when we are up there we try and do as much as we can with them. Last year we went to a dude ranch in Wisconsin for a long weekend, went horseback riding twice every day and just had a wonderful time. The grandkids loved it and so did we.

  52. I'm so happy to have found your blog. I am still in shock that you have so many kids and haven't gone insane. I totally look up to women like you. My two babies (5 and 6) suck the air out of the room, but they are my precious miracles. We love to read together. They like the voices that I come up with. That's the best family time. When we all sit together and laugh at a ridiculously funny book. Then we watch Family Game Night and pick teams. Great times!.
