Violet Birthday - Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge

I am so excited!  It is my turn to host the challenge over on Papertrey Paper Dolls blog.  This is actually my first time to host the challenge. They have been letting me off the hook since being pregnant and now with the baby, but it is time to quit shirking my responsibilities!

It is open to EVERYONE so I hope that everyone checks it out, finds it a lot of fun, and participates!  The challenge is to use, if you have it, a PTI Year of the Flowers set.  If you don't, then any flower set is fine!  Just a little about these sets.  For the past 12 months during the Papertrey Ink release there has been one set that has been a Year of the Flowers set for that month.  I choose February:  Violets.  I have a very special person in my life who has a birthday in February, my mother!  I wouldn't be who I am without her and I think she did a pretty good if I do say so myself.

Okay, before I get to mushy on with the challenge.  I bet you thought that was it.  NO WAY!

1.  Use a flower set, if you have it Papertrey Ink, Year of the Flowers set.
2.  Use a designer paper.  If you don't have any, make your own.  I actually used SU designer paper Real Red and stamped using the flower images.  But I could have just stamped on plain paper and it would have been pretty too!
3.  Use at least three different colors.  Even though this is a Papertrey Ink challenge you can use ANY colors, brands, or products!

The link to post your challenge and see others can be seen here:  Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #31.

Please, please check it out!  I want this to be the best challenge ever to make up for not doing yet!

Here's what I came up with:

I used Victoria embossing folder to give it some texture.

Recipe:
Card Base: PTI  Summer Sunrise 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  SU Real Red DP stamped with PTI True Black 4" X 5 1/4", PTI Ripe Avocado 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU DP Real Red
Ink: SU Riding Hood Red, PTI True Black
Stamps:  PTI Fillable Frames #4, PTI Year of Flowers:  Violet
Accessories:  SU oval punches, Grosgrain Yellow Gold ribbon, Cuttlebug & Victoria embossing folder, SU Riding Hood Red marker, Stickles

Thanks so much for visiting me while I am
Hiding in My Craft Room!
Have a great crafting day!

Laurie your violet has so much dimension on it with that embossing! I love that little detail! This is a great challenge because I have several of these YOF sets and they rarely see ink! Thanks for hosting!!

Your card turned out beautiful! Love the idea of taking patterned paper and giving it your own spin. I also like your choice of colors. Thanks for hosting!

I love the embossing on the flower images. I would have never thought of that. I'm getting the challenge organized in my head, and I'm hoping to get to it this weekend!

Hi Laurie! It's so great that you're hosting the challenge! I am gonna make something with Delightful Dahlia since I don't have any YOF sets...but this is a great challenge and I love your card, especially how you stamped over the patterned paper. Great job! Hope the new little one is doing well!
