HIMCR #25 - Embossing Technique

Happy Saturday!!  And also Happy Birthday to my baby boy who turned 1 today!  I can't believe it has already been a year!

On with the challenge!  This week is the 3rd week of the month, so it's Technique SATURDAY!  Since this time of the year is so hectic I decided to make it something pretty easy:  EMBOSSING!  That can be dry, wet, using a scoring system, an embossing pen and light box (I'm showing my age!)  Anykind of embossing!  If you want to make it a little more of a challenge try to use more than one.  On my example I used three different embossing folders.  You have until Friday, December 23rd to link up your creation to get entered into the monthly drawing this week.

Here's what I came up with:

I love how the embossing came out on the background.  The Swiss Dots folder hit some of the silver parts of the paper (accidently) wonderfully!  I had not emobssed Vellum before and I LOVE how it looks.  Note:  this is a Vellum Cardstock which is heavier/thicker than just regular vellum.

Snowflake layers were cut at 3 3/4" from Art Philosophy!
Frame layers at 4 3/4" from Elegant Edges.   On this layer I (accidently) ran it through on the wrong side then ran it through again on the right side a couple of times to give is a 'different' embossed look.  I've done this before and like the way it looks textured.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Buckaroo Blue (very retired!) 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:   DCWV 'the Winter Magic Stack' 4" X 4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU Night of Navy, Vellum cardstock, more from DCWV, Real Red
Ink:  Night of Navy
Stamps:   PTI Mega Mixed Messages
Accessories:  Cuttlebug & D'vine Swirl, Snow Dots, and Swiss Dots embossing folders, Cricut & Elegant Edges and Art Philosophy Cartridges, SU Whisper White Taffeta ribbon painted with Iridescent Medium, snowflake brad, Iridescent Medium

You can see the HIMCR schedule of challenges and guidelines HERE!  Please be sure and follow the few easy guidelines so your creation will get entered into the monthly giveaway!!!

Just a few guidelines:
1.  The current weekly challenge linky will be up until Friday night at midnight MST.  Be sure and link your creation back to the actual post and not just your blog home page.
2.  When posting your creation on your blog or online gallery please link it back to this challenge.  This helps me to spread the word and the FUN!
3.  Please create something new for the current challenge and NOT use something you've made previously.  However, you can combine a HIMCR challenge with other challenges. It is always fun to complete more than one challenge at a time!
4.  The winner of the monthly giveaway will be posted the 8th of the following month!
5. Have FUN!!
6. Let me know if I forgot something!

Thanks so much for visiting me while I am

Bee-utifullly embossed Christmas card. Not heard of vellum cardstock but use vellum alot in my calligraphy. I also first started embossing with s light box, a stylus & templates from a Fiskars kit my hubby gave me and also have a number of brass embossing templates I've used. Happy Birthday to your son. Time goes fast. I can hardly believe my daughter will be 20 end of this yr and she just found out she received all As for her sophomore semester of Art Animation college classes. Whoot! Whoot! I'm so proud of her. Have a card to enter that I just finished and did some embossing on. Will be back with it as an entry.

Beautiful card as always Laurie. I love the idea of embossing on velum, will have to give that a try.

And congrats to your little boy turning 1. Such a big milestone. I hope he had a lovely day.

Thanks for the inspiration!!
