I'm nuts about you - Create a Critter

I made this Valentine's Day card for one of the many men if my life.  I haven't decided which one!  LOL!  Which happened to be the challenge this week over on Cricut Cardz to make a Valentine's Day card for a man.  Plus, I needed a card for a man.  I have a husband, a grown son, a teenage son, a five year old son and a four year old son and an 8 week old son (but I don't think I will worry about him this year!).

Another challenge I have recently been checking out and participating in when I can is Jitterbuggin Challenge.  This week's challenge was to make a Non-Traditional Valentine's Day Card with NO pink or red.  Go me!  Two challenges!  I really shouldn't be tooting my own horn.  I have seen people who complete 4-5 challenge with one card, layout, or project!  They just takes too much thinking and organizing for me!

Here's what I came up with:

I don't have the new Cricut Imagine by Provo Craft but I do have TONS of designer paper!

Squirrel was cut from Create a Critter at 3 1/2".

Recipe:
Card Base: SU River Rock  4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:   Wild Wasabi 4" X 5 1/4", Early Expresso  4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU Apple Cider DP, Really Rust, Early Expresso
Ink: SU Early Expresso
Stamps:  SU Teeny Tiny Wishes, Pink by Design "Go Green"
Accessories:  Cricut & Creat a Critter Cartridge,  SU word window & modern label puches, Wild Wasabi ribbon, Cuttlebug & D'Vine Swirl & Swiss Dots embossing folders

Weekend update and Winner!!

Since my last post things have been crazy around here.  Here in Arizona we don't get snow but we had a cold front with freezing temperatures come through, and to the best of my understanding there was an over usage of gas, a build up of pressure, and so the company shut down OUR neighborhood.  We spend two days huddled together in the master bedroom with the space heater, cooking in my electric pressure cooker (I love that thing even more now!) and microwave.  We never lost water but many did.  I did lose my husband temporarily as he is a handy man and was playing plumber at the neighbors!  It actually wasn't that bad especially when others in the country have had it sooooo much worse but things did take longer with more thinking and creativity!  Ironically when we got the gas back on the weather turned beautiful and has been since!  Back to normal Arizona weather!

On with winner of my giveaway!

Violet Birthday - Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge

I am so excited!  It is my turn to host the challenge over on Papertrey Paper Dolls blog.  This is actually my first time to host the challenge. They have been letting me off the hook since being pregnant and now with the baby, but it is time to quit shirking my responsibilities!

It is open to EVERYONE so I hope that everyone checks it out, finds it a lot of fun, and participates!  The challenge is to use, if you have it, a PTI Year of the Flowers set.  If you don't, then any flower set is fine!  Just a little about these sets.  For the past 12 months during the Papertrey Ink release there has been one set that has been a Year of the Flowers set for that month.  I choose February:  Violets.  I have a very special person in my life who has a birthday in February, my mother!  I wouldn't be who I am without her and I think she did a pretty good if I do say so myself.

Okay, before I get to mushy on with the challenge.  I bet you thought that was it.  NO WAY!

1.  Use a flower set, if you have it Papertrey Ink, Year of the Flowers set.
2.  Use a designer paper.  If you don't have any, make your own.  I actually used SU designer paper Real Red and stamped using the flower images.  But I could have just stamped on plain paper and it would have been pretty too!
3.  Use at least three different colors.  Even though this is a Papertrey Ink challenge you can use ANY colors, brands, or products!

The link to post your challenge and see others can be seen here:  Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #31.

Please, please check it out!  I want this to be the best challenge ever to make up for not doing yet!

Here's what I came up with:

I used Victoria embossing folder to give it some texture.

Recipe:
Card Base: PTI  Summer Sunrise 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  SU Real Red DP stamped with PTI True Black 4" X 5 1/4", PTI Ripe Avocado 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU DP Real Red
Ink: SU Riding Hood Red, PTI True Black
Stamps:  PTI Fillable Frames #4, PTI Year of Flowers:  Violet
Accessories:  SU oval punches, Grosgrain Yellow Gold ribbon, Cuttlebug & Victoria embossing folder, SU Riding Hood Red marker, Stickles

life is too short

I so agree!  Eat dessert first!!!  Especially now that I'm nursing!  It seems like I can't get enough dessert.

Anyway, I'm also always up for a challenge (or at least I want to be!).  So when a friend told me about a challenge over on mypinkstamper.com I just had to go for it.   The challenge was to make a card using something "yummy".  I didn't have much time but I think it came out pretty cute.  I hope you this so too.

Here's what I came up with:

Cake was cut from Birthday Bash Cart at 3 3/4".
Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Early Expresso 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Pretty in Pink 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Pink Passion, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, DP from DCWV "the spring stack"
Ink: Early Expresso
Stamps:  SU Teeny Tiny Wishes, PTI Cupcake Collection
Accessories:  SU Word Window and Modern label punches, Cuttlebug & D'Vine Swirls and SU embossing folders, Cricut & Birthday Bash Cartridge, Stickles "Cotton Candy", Corduroy buttons and random flowers, Early Expresso 5/8" grosgrain ribbon
