happy mother's day

So I made this for Cricut Cardz challenge but missed the deadline by 45 minutes!!  GRRRR!!

Oh well, I will still need this card, but I can't say for sure who will get it.  My mother is probably my biggest fan and most loyal reader!  HI MOM!!

The challenge was to make a Mother's Day card!  I did veer from my ABC cricut challenge, but I DID use a new PTI stamp set (another challenge of mine):  Bitty Background Blocks.  This is such a great versatile set!  I used it on the middle of the flower.

edit:  I was contacted and told that my card qualifies for a Mother's Day challenge over on Hand Stamped Sentiment blog! Thank you Genny!

Here's what I came up with:

Flower and leaves were cut at 2 1/2" from Picturesque Cartridge
I LOVE this cartridge!
You can check it out here:  Picturesque Cartridge

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Pear Pizzazz 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:   DCWV The Stack 4" X 5 1/4"   Melon Mambo 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Crushed Curry,  Always Artichoke
Ink: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry
Stamps:  SU Teeny Tiny Wishes, PTI Bitty Background Blocks
Accessories:  Crushed Curry ribbon, Cuttlebug & Floral Screen embossing folder, SU window punches, Pearls, Cricut & Picturesque Cartridge

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!  We did!  We kept it simple, just spent time as a family.  Then Sunday we went to church and afterward had friends over for an Easter dinner.  The kids played; the adults visited.  A perfect end to a really nice weekend.

I am thankful for this time of year to reflect on Jesus Christ, his life, the Atonement, and the Resurrection.  I know I should think about it at all times but sometimes life gets so hectic and busy it takes a special holiday to help me remember.

Happy belated Easter!!!

Sweet as a Cupcake!

I just love this little cupcake!  Of course I love eating cupcakes but lately I've been addicted to watching Cupcake Wars.  I have a friend who makes gourmet yummy cupcakes and I keep asking her when she is going on the show!!!  So anyway, I just had to make a card using this yummy cupcake!  Maybe I will even send it to her!

PLUS, the cupcake image is cut from From My Kitchen Cartridge, letter F, next on my ABC Cricut challenge.

I used the colors from last week's Splitcoaststampers color challenge:  CC318 So Pretty Pizzazz.  I got some time to craft today and went to check out today's color challenge and it wasn't up yet so I decided to just do last week's.  That's the great thing about SCS challenges.  You can do them any time!!

Here's what I came up with:

I cut the ovals from the same cartridge using the cut to length features to match my stamp size.
The white one at 2 1/4" long and the So Saffron one at 2 3/4" long.

I cut the cupcake at 3 3/4".

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Pear Pizzazz 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Pretty in Pink DP (from my scrap box), So Saffron, white, Pretty in Pink
Ink:  Basic Gray
Stamps:  PTI Cupcake Collection
Accessories:  SU white satin ribbon, Cuttlebug & Swiss Dots embossing folder, Hologram glitter glue, Cricut & From My Kitchen cartridge

Gone fishin

I made this scrapbook page for some great pictures we took last year when we went home (my home) to Arkansas and my dad took us fishing.  The kids LOVED it!  My poor seven year old still remembers that she didn't get a fish which she brought up when she saw the page!  We, of course, were doing catch and release.  My dad even caught a fish and tried to trick her and let her 'catch' it, but it didn't work.  It was the one that got away!  I don't know who was more upset my, then, 6 year old or my dad!  He tries his best to make everything perfect.

My mom does her part!  I usually gain 3 pounds from her cooking when we visit!!!

Oh, and I haven't forgotten about my cricut challenge!  Letter E:  Everyday Paper Dolls is the cart I used for the little fisher, the fish, and the water.  I used Cindy Loo cartridge for the letters.

I also used the Cuttlebug and Tiny Bubbles embossing folder on the 'water'.

Playing with Felt

Okay, so I'm probably the last person in the crafting world to play with felt and I thought I would just buy some cheap felt at wal-mart!  Well, my cricut wouldn't cut it even on multi-cut and then I decided to try my PTI dies and when that didn't work I figured out it must be the felt!  It is, like I said, just some cheap felt in the kid crafts section. So I had to get out the big guns!  I used my Accucut, a professional manual cutter, which will cut ANYTHING, I think!!!

Here's what I came up with:

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Pear Pizzazz 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  White 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU I Wish Simply Scrappin Kit
Ink: Melon Mambo
Stamps:  SU Bring on the Cake
Accessories:  Felt, Accucut, Flowers #16 die, scrap ribbon, brad

PTI and SU Color Comparison Chart

Papertrey Ink and Stampin Up Color Comparison

I have searched and searched and could not find a comparison chart of Papertrey Ink colors and Stampin Up Colors.  So, I decide to make my own.

I used a little color key ring I made of PTI colors.

And a cardstock ring I bought on ebay, but I don't think the lady sells them anymore and had to make my own with the new in colors.

The reason I wanted this is because I have all the SU inks and really like them, the storage, the style, and the colors and wanted to know the matches for my PTI cardstock.  However, I have been disappointed in Stampin Up's ribbon choices and LOVE PTI's variety and that I don't have to buy 15 yards at a time.  Anyway, I wanted more options for matching it to my SU cardstock.  AND because I have a serious ribbon problem but that is another story!

Here is how I did it!  See how SU Melon Mambo and PTI Raspberry Fizz are almost the SAME color!

So here are the color matches I came up with.  The ones that don't have a match well, they didn't have a close enough match.  I know that a lot of the SU colors are retired but that is what matches!  Also, these are only the colors of PTI cardstock that I have.  The newer releases I will add as I get them.

Joyeux anniversaire!

Don't you just love it when things work out!  Well, my daughter's friend is having a Paris themed birthday party this weekend and guess what?  Destinations Cricut cartridge has an Eiffel tower image!  Starts with D!  The next letter in my Cricut ABC challenge and I don't think I had used this cart before!!!

So since I don't speak french I had to call my oldest who served a mission for our church in the West Indies and does speak french.  I wanted to make the birthday card just right for her Paris party!  Of course, it says Happy Birthday!!  But don't ask me how to pronounce it, but when my son says it, it sounds heavenly!
Here's what I came up with:

The Eiffel Tower was cut at 4".
I cut two and one in shadow, all in silver paper, and layered them with dimensionals to give it a 3-D look.  The top layer I embossed with Mesh folder.

Recipe:
Card Base: White  4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Other Cardstock / Paper:  DCWV Garden Party stack, Silver paper from Target,  Bravo Burgundy
Ink: None
Stamps: None
Accessories:  Cuttlebug & Mess embossing folder, Cricut & Destinations Cartridge, SU White taffeta ribbon, Computer for sentiment, SU punches, PTI edge die

CropChocolate Spring Challenge

The design team for Cropchocolate.com were challenged to make a 'Spring' or Easter themed project.

Here's what I came up with:

Recipe:

I only used White cardstock and paper from the makingmemories Spring Fling project paper pad that of course is from Cropchocolate.com!!  The pad includes: 8"X8" patterned paper, alpha & number stickers, word & frame stickers, and die cuts.  I cut the butterfly from patterned paper BY HAND!!  I'm not the best with scissors to say the least! I used Hologram Glitter glue from http://www.thestencilcollection.com/ to give it some sparkle!

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, Mega Mixed Messages, stamped using SU Regal Rose.

Thanks for checking in today!

I'm still here!

I thought I better let everyone know that I'm still here!  I just had a busy week last week from kindergarten round up to a kid's birthday and everything in between.  With a family our size things come up!  Who am I kidding with one or 19 kids, like the Dugger's on TLC, things happen!!  Family first!

Also, in our church twice a year we have what's called General Conference where we get to hear from church leaders via satellite.  It's on Saturday and Sunday; so my weekend was full of family and spirituality!

I'm still here and have some fun things to share with you this week including a couple of new videos!!
