My Paper Addiction!

Hi!  My name is Laurie and I'm addicted to Paper!

My 12 X 12 solid cardstock in a rolling file

My 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock

My 12 X 12 Paper Pack on a bookshelf in my craft room closet!
Yes, I have duplicates because I forget!!!

This is how I store my scraps sorted by color.
If I don't have time to file colors I just stick it in the back until I can get to it.

My Stampin Up Designer paper packs
Yes, there might be some more in the storage in the picture but I'm not telling!

I used to be a BIG TIME paper hoarder but I am doing better at that!  Plus, I'm finding that the more I use what I have the less I seem to buy.  Maybe it's because I'm actually SEEING what I already have!!

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day and found some GREAT sales!  I DID!  And I must shamelessly admit that I bought some more paper stacks!!

No Crafting Today!

I hope you all are having a fabulous Friday!

Today is the first day of my kids' summer break!  We are doing some spring summer cleaning and getting ready for some out of state friends to come spend the holiday weekend.  Boy did (still does! We're not done!) my house need it!  I'm taking a break from cleaning and practicing my one handed typing skills while nursing the baby.  I'm getting pretty good at it!!

I thought I would take the time to share some things about my blog.  I little while back I added a navigation bar at the top.  From there you can go directly to my facebook fan page (please 'like' me!), my youtube channel, my posts that have videos, and coming soon, my post with Cricut cartrdiges catorized by cartridge.   Plus, there is a Contact Me button if you have any questions, concerns, or advice.  I've also put in the sidebar a facebook badge!  Come by and say "Hi!".

Also, I have a couple of updated posts.  I've added a few colors to  my PTI and SU Color Comparison Chart  and I've updated Challenges! Challenges! and even put (more for myself) a link in the far right sidebar to the challenges that I like to check out.

Well, the baby is done and asleep so I guess my house cleaning break is over!!

Here's the card that was highlighted:  Sending Smooches!

And here's The Cricut Chirp newsletter where you can see the entire thing along with links to the other four people who were also highlighted this week:  May 24, 2011 Vol 258

NEW STUFF!!!

I recently odered (just got them in today!) some Cricut cartridges from Cricutmachine.com.  They were having a special if you buy the newer carts you get a Hello Kitty bundle, Greetings and Font, FREE!  Well, I already have Hello Kitty Greetings but I thought I could use them for giveaways!  Pay it forward!  So be looking for that!  BUT they ran out of Hello Kitty Fonts and sent me one I didn't have or order, Baby Steps, which is adorable!  AND  duplicates of a couple of NEWER cartridges, ones that I ordered.  SO I will be having some fun giveaways SOON!  I'm going to be doing a new video tutorial and letting my subscribers over on Youtube know about it too.  When I get it done I will post it here, as always!

Thank you!

Thanks so much to all of you who left such sweet kind uplifting comments about my grandmother's passing.  Your words have meant and helped so much!  I wish I could send you all a Thank You card to say .......  well, "thank you"!

So I decided to get me back into the swing of things I would make a Thank You card.  Kindof a virtual card for all of you, my wonderful friends! Nothing like a sense of purpose to get me creating again.  At least it helps!  For more inspiration I also decided to do last week's Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge:  CC323 Rich Vanilla Rose (Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose).  I used Vintage Cream ribbon from Papertrey Ink that matches PERFECTLY to SU Very Vanilla.  To see more comparisons look HERE!

So here's your card:

Butterfly was cut at 3".  The picture doesn't show all the sparkle!
Tag frame was cut at 5 1/4" with real dial size ON.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Very Vanilla 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Rich Razzleberry 3 3/4" X 5 1/2"
Other Cardstock / Paper:   Regal Rose DP,  Paper from Rasperry Tart Series
Ink:  Rich Razzleberry
Stamps:   Mat Stack 1 Collection

Thanks so much again!

Good-bye for now!

My grandmother died yesterday.  It seems like once her body started failing everything started breaking down.  Why is it that even though death is expected when it happens it hurts so much?

I'm so thankful for my wonderful memories!

Maw-maw and my oldest three!
Such an old picture!

Spending the night at Maw-maw's, staying up late, playing Skipbo, Mama Rosa's pizza for dinner, and fried potatoes in the morning.  She would always cook them for me, one of my favorites!

Yes, I was the first grandchild and EXTREMELY spoiled by her.

She even let me drive her big 'ole car (before I was legal!)
So many GREAT memories!  I'm working on getting them all down on paper while they are flashing in my mind.  I'm not sure how long that will last.

I'm very sad that circumstances as they are, husband out of the country, living so far away, I was unable to see her one last time and probably won't even be able to attend her funeral.

My really big regret that weighs heavily on my heart is, after moving away from home, all the unmade phone calls.  I would suggest to anyone reading this: call your loved ones, those you haven't talked to in a while, NOW!!!  Don't let it wait until, like me, it's too late.

Thank goodness I have my faith!  I know I will see my sweet, loving, wonderful grandmother, my Maw-maw again!  So I only have to say good-bye for now!

I'm here for The Color Dare Challenge!

In my church we have what is called Visiting Teaching.  It is basically just a networking of women.  We are each assigned a few sisters to visit each month with a spiritual message and checking to see if there are any needs that need to be met.  Anyway, when I saw this sentiment on Floral Frenzy from Papertrey Ink I knew I would use it on a card for one of the sisters that I visit teach.

It's time for another Color Dare challenge!!  I'm just loving being on the Design Team and meeting some great crafting ladies!  Be sure and check out the other team members fabulous work!

Sending Smooches

I was playing around with some new (to me) Papertrey Ink stamps, one of my goals!  I'm really getting into background stamps lately.  It's no where near perfect but with practice I will get better.

Also, I haven't forgotten about my ABC Cricut challenge!  I just had to put it on the back burner while I took care of National Scrapbooking day.  I'm up to letter I:  Indie Art!  No I didn't skip the letter H!  I have a scrapbook page that I did but I still need to add the picture.  Which of course I still need to have printed!

I made this card for my wonderful hard working husband that I'm missing!  So I decided to send him some 'smooches'!  I cut out some smaller ones to put inside the card.  Aren't I adorable?  My husband used to call me double A:  absolutely adorable!  I know, TMI!  I might even have to kiss each one and send him kisses literally!  Corny, huh?  When your husband is gone for an extended amount of time it's okay!

I cut the 'smooches' using my Gypsy and my free download of Indie Art!

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Real Red 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:   White stamped with black 4" X 5 1/4",  Black 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Ink: Real Red, Basic Black
Stamps:  PTI   Say It With Style, Background Basics: Retro

Bee Well Soon

I made this card for my grandmother who is in the hospital, but unfortunately she has taken a turn for the worse and is now in ICU in no condition to read a card.  I'm hopeful that I will be sending it to her soon!  She's a fighter and stubborn!  It's probably where I get my fire and grit!

Bee layers was cut without the flower at  3 1/2" from Live Simply Lite Cartridge.
I painted the wings with Iridescent Medium, but it muted the blue a little too much so I went back over it with a Pacific Point marker.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Pacific Point 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  White 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Pixie Pink, Black
Ink: Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Garden Green
Stamps:  PTI Honey Bees
Accessories:  SU Crushed Curry ribbon, Cricut & Live Simply Lite Cartridge, Cuttlebug & Textile embossing folder, Iridescent Medium, Pacific Point marker

There's still time!

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day!  I DID! My husband took care of the kids in the morning and I got to sleep in which was much needed after getting ready for NSD!  He gathered the kids together around the kitchen table with cardstock, pencils, stickers, etc. and I got some VERY sweet cards.  If I get a chance I will edit this post with some pics!  I have some talented kids if I do say so myself!  Then we went to church where we heard some wonderful lessons and messages especially designed to make a woman feel honored to be a mother!  A noble calling!  I feel sooooooo blessed!  Of course, now my heart is heavy because I dropped my wonderful husband off at the airport early this morning.  He will be gone for at least 3 1/2 months and will be greatly missed.  Anyway, I digress!

I wanted to leave just a quick reminder!

There's still time to get entered into the challenges from Saturday, National Scrapbooking Day! (not just for scrapbookers)

Check here for a few guidelines if you are just getting started:  National Scrapbooking Day
