Happy bird-day! - Color Dare 107

What a great color combo Riley came up with this week for The Color Dare!  I am so glad to be on this great design team!

CD107
So Saffron
Marina Mist
Certainly Celery

Here's what I came up with:

Bird was cut at 3.75" from Straight from the Nest

You can't see from the picture but the So Saffron is a soft paisley print which I thought went well with the Paisley embossing on the little bird.

 Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Marina Mist 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Designer papers:  So Saffron & Certainly Celery layer and trimmed at 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:   So Saffron, White, Chocolate Chip
Ink:  Marina Mist & Chocolate Chip
Stamps:   SU Pun Fun & PTI Honey Bees (little flowers by sentiment)
Accessories: SU Chocolate Chip marker, Cuttlebug & Perfectly Paisley and SU Square Lattice embossing folders , Cricut & Straight from the Nest cartridge, PTI Blueberry Sky Swiss Dot ribbon (not a perfect match to Marina Mist but pretty close!),  Corner Rounder

Trying Something NEW!

I've decided to start hosting weekly challenges with a monthly giveaway chosen randomly for one lucky participant!  Each Saturday (Starting July 2nd!) here at Hiding in My Craft Room there will be a new challenge with a linky to share your creation for that week's challenge.  You will have the entire week to create something (card, scrapbook page, 3-D item, tag, etc.)  and get it linked.  So you will have up to 5 chances, depending on how many weeks there are in the month, to enter the giveaway.

Here's the schedule:

1st week:  A Color Challenge
2nd week:   Super Scraps Saturday (even though you have all week!) - time to use up some of those SCRAPS!  I personally need this challenge for myself!!!
3rd week:  Try a Technique Week
4th week:  Mix it Up!  This challenge will be different each week!
5th week:  Freestyle!  This week you can enter with ANY creation!!

I'm going to do this for a trial period of at least two months to see if anyone is interested and to see if I can keep it up! LOL!!  If you have any questions, concerns, advice, suggestions, please use the 'Contact Me' button at the top of my blog.  When I get a question in the comments I'm never quite sure how to answer it.

Just a few guidelines:
1.  The current weekly challenge linky will be up until Friday night at midnight MST.  Be sure and link your creation back to the actual post and not just your blog home page.
2.  When posting your creation on your blog or online gallery please link it back to this challenge.  This helps me to spread the word and the FUN!
3.  Please create something new for the current challenge and NOT use something you've made previously.  However, you can combine a HIMCR challenge with other challenges. It is always fun to complete more than one challenge at a time!
4.  The winner of the monthly giveaway will be posted the FIRST Friday of the month!
5. Have FUN!!
6. Let me know if I forgot something!

I am soooo excited to be doing this!! JOIN ME Saturday July 2nd for the 1st challenge and PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!!

Thanks so much for visiting today and I hope we have a lot of fun creating together!

I know I have already said that I have a giveaway coming soon!  It's a pretty nice one too!  I just wanted to let my YouTube subscribers in on it too.  So I have the giveaway at the end of a video.  I've just been super duper busy with my kiddos this summer.  My oldest (that still lives at home to help!) has been to scout camps; so my time is even more limited!!  I've started editing it along with another video and I hope to get time tonight to get them finished uploaded and posted Saturday at the LATEST!!

Hey There

Just another card to send to my husband! I thought he would like just a fun hello card. Also, since it is a masculine card (sort of! LOL!) it qualifies for a few challenges I have seen.  One is Hand Stamped Sentiments and Crazy 4 Challenges the other is Papertrey Paper Dolls (the PTI blog group I'm in!). I guess with Father's Day just around the corner it's that time, but I don't need anymore Father's day cards so I made this one.

Here's what I came up with:

Alien was cut from Boys Will Be Boys Cricut cartridge at 3 1/2".
Recipe:
Card Base: PTI New Leaf 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  DCWV the Spring Glitter Stack 4 1/8" X 5 3/8"
Other Cardstock / Paper:   PTI Dark Chocolate and Aqua Mist
Ink: Early Espresso
Stamps:  PTI Big & Bold Wishes
Accessories:  PTI Dark Chocolate ribbon, Cricut & Boys Will Be Boys cartridge, Cuttlebug & Mesh and Swiss Dots embossing folders, Wiggle Eyes

Penquins love FOREVER

Doesn't it seem like I was just posting last week's Color Dare challenge?  Well, it is that time again!  And Riley has done it again, another great color combo challenge!

Color Dare #104:  Cajun Crazy Beezes
Cajun Craze

Baja Breeze

Not Quite Navy

I decided it was time to make my husband another card and thought these colors would be great for a man's card.  I used the Penguins from Everyday Pop-up Cards.  They reminded me of a movie, I can't remember the name, but it's about penguins and their heart song and how they mate for life.  A kid's movie of course, I don't get to watch much else!  I hope my husband picks up on the connection.  I will probably put a little reminder in my letter on the inside!

Here's what I came up with:

Scalloped background was cut from Elegant Edges at 4 3/4".
Penguins image was cut at 2 3/4" from

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Not Quite Navy 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front: Cajun Craze 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy DP,
Ink: SU Cajun Craze
Stamps:  PTI Faux Ribbon
Accessories:  Cuttlebug & Checkerboard and Mesh embossing folder, Cricut & Elegant Edges and Everyday Pop-up Cards

Thanks so much for visiting me while I am
Hiding in My Craft Room!

Don't forget to check out the other design team members creations at The Color Dare, put a link to your creations for this week's challenge, and/or check out what others are doing with the colors this week!

So THANKFUL Owl

Oh my goodness!  I haven't done a MojoMonday sketch challenge is sooo long. I can't even remember the last time.  Well, I decided to check it out this week and thought I would give it a whirl.  PLUS, it's CONTEST week!  WOOHOO!  It's a fun sketch this week.  Head over and get your sketchy mojo on!

For this week's sketch: Mojo194 I instantly thought how it would be a great opportunity to use up some designer paper scraps I have been hoarding!  So I laid some out and arranged them to see which ones would work together.

ALSO, over on The Paper Players, it is theme week and there is an easy preasy challenge.  All you have to do for that challenge is make a 'thank you' theme project.

Here's what I came up with:

Owl layers were cut from Hoot 'n' Holler lite cartridge at 2.5".

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Chocolate Chip 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  White 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  SU Designer Paper scraps, Dusty Durango
Ink:  Dusty Durango
Stamps:  Verve 'So Happy'
Accessories:  SU Dusty Durango ribbon, Cuttlebug and Spots & Dots and SU embossing folder, Cricut Hoot 'n' Holler Lite Cartridge

Thanks so much for visiting me while I am
Hiding in My Craft Room!

Also thanks so much for all the well wishes!
Thankfully no one was sick today,
just a lot of cleaning and getting much needed rest.
