Merry Christmas to ME!!

I hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving and if you ventured out for Black Friday I hope you found all the deals you were hoping for.  We went to Salt Lake for the four day weekend to visit my husband's family and had such a wonderful time.  I have such great sister-in-laws!  Plus, I have children in Provo that I got to see! We shopped and shopped.  I love to go out and watch people and get some deals but I'm certainly not going to go early early or wait in long lines.  To be honest, I think I'd rather pay full price! LOL!!  BUT I do go and do get the ads and do take my coupons!  And usually come away feeling good, feeling like I saved some money, did some shopping but didn't stress, and had a good time.

Here's some of my crafting loot!  I forgot some stuff in my daughter's car.  Just more paper, another cartridge, some other little things and a tote for my seven year old, I think!

I really do have a paper problem!
I just can't pass up half off plus an additional 25% off!

I was VERY excited to find the Cinch V2 at Robert's and use a 50% off coupon!!

Well, at least my husband is off the hook!

I bought my own Christmas!!
(I highly recommend it!)

HIMCR #21 - Sheet Protector Technique

Happy Saturday!!

I'm getting the challenge up a little late today.  The challenge this week, the 3rd week of the month, is Technique Saturday!  The technique this month is Sheet Protector Background.  Photo tutorial below.

You have until Saturday, November 26th to link up your creation to get entered into the monthly drawing this week.

Here's what I came up with:

Scallops were cut from Art Philosophy Cartridge at 2", 2 1/4", 2 1/2", 2 3/4"
Bracket was cut at 3"

 Recipe:
Card Base: SU Island Indigo 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Pool Party 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:   Poppy Parade, White Glossy cut at 4" X 4 1/4"
Ink:  Island Indigo (very very close to Taken with Teal)
Stamps:  CTMH Frames, Tags, Borders
Accessories:  Cricut & Art Philosophy Cartridge, SU Poppy Parade ribbon, sheet protector, reinkers, rhinestones

Here's how you do the Sheet Protector Background Technique:

You will need:
A sheet protector cut on all but one side so it can be opened
White Glossy Paper
Reinkers

Open the Sheet protector and drop whatever colors you are using onto the inside.

Next close the sheet protector to blend the colors slightly.

Put TWO sheets of Glossy Cardstock with the glossy side on the outside.
So the glossy will be getting inked.

Now you can use your hand, like I did, to spread the colors onto the glossy cardstock or you can use a brayer.
Let your cardstock dry.
It will dry lighter.

This is what it looks like if you don't have Glossy cardstock.
Here I just used regular white cardstock from Office Depot.
I think it looks just as good!

Now it's your turn to give it a try!

You can see the HIMCR schedule of challenges and guidelines HERE!  Please be sure and follow the few easy guidelines so your creation will get entered into the monthly giveaway!!!

Just a few guidelines:
1.  The current weekly challenge linky will be up until Friday night at midnight MST.  Be sure and link your creation back to the actual post and not just your blog home page.
2.  When posting your creation on your blog or online gallery please link it back to this challenge.  This helps me to spread the word and the FUN!
3.  Please create something new for the current challenge and NOT use something you've made previously.  However, you can combine a HIMCR challenge with other challenges. It is always fun to complete more than one challenge at a time!
4.  The winner of the monthly giveaway will be posted the 8th of the following month!

Getting Christmas cards done!

I'm trying to get those Christmas cards done!

I was recently visiting the Papertrey Paper Dolls blogs and came across THIS card on the other Laurie's blog.  She uses an SVG file that she bought but it got me thinking that surely in my arsenal of Cricut images I can create this beauty or at least something close.  I found what I was looking for in the Flower Shoppe Cricut Cartridge!

I also used this week's MojoMonday #215 sketch challenge for inspiration!

Here's what I came up with:

Poinsettia was cut at 3" and 2.5" using the Sunflower image from the Flower Shoppe cartridge.
The center red piece is from the Mum image cut at 3".
The yellow center is also the Sunflower center cut at 3".
The leaves are the same as the large red pieces but cut at 3.5".
I cut off one of the petals and off centered it a bit using dimensionals to pop it up.
Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Marigold Morning 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:    SU Cranberry Crisp 4 1/8" X 5 3/8",  My Mind's Eye 'Countdown to Christmas'  4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:   DCWV 'Tis the Season,
Ink:  Cranberry Crisp
Stamps:   SU Teeny Tiny Wishes
Accessories:  Cricut & Flower Shop cartridge, Cuttlebug & Distressed Stripes and Mesh embossing folders,  rhinestones, SU punches

Count Your Blessings

I am soooo blessed!  I just love being a mother!  It can be the hardest job in the world but the most rewarding at the same time.  I can't imagine my life without each one of my wonderful children.  As they have gotten older they have become my best friends that I enjoy talking with, laughing with, crying with, and discussing things with.  I look forward to and have enjoyed seeing them grow, however, I know I will miss having all these little people around me.  I certainly miss the oldest two!

We had a rare opportunity right after the last baby was born that ALL eight kids were home!
Good looking group of kids, right?

Frame is from Art Philosophy (be sure and check out the giveaway!) cut at 9" width, 4.09" height using the Gypsy.
'Blessings' is from Cindy Loo Cartridge cut at 8.5" width.  I didn't make a note of the height.

Other materials used are:

Makingmemories Paper Reverie Brun Antique
Paper and Alphabet Stickers form Lush pack (blue) by My Mind's Eye
Makingmemories 5th Avenue Trims 'Sophia'
All from http://www.cropchocolate.com/!

12 X 12 Chocolate Chip

Where does the time go?

I made this card last week for my daughter but I didn't want to post it until I was 100% sure that she got it first!  I can't believe she is 20!  Remember the challenge a week ago?  Well, I had so much fun getting my #10 size card ready to the challenge that I decided to make another one!  Dimensions are listed below so you can give it try too!

Here's what I came up with:

Frame was cut at 2 1/2", Banner at 3" from Art Philosophy cartridge.
Doll and layers were cut at 3" from Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.
Numbers are from Cricut Alphabet, cartridge on the Expression 2, cut at 1".

Here's what I did to the inside. I little of stamping on white cardstock with plenty of room to write a message.  I love sending and getting letters and think it's becoming a lost art.

These were just cut by hand from coordinating design paper.
I do hate cutting by hand, but I love my daughter so what do you do!

Playing with my new Peachy Keen stamps.
I am LOVING these!

This is actually layered onto a chipboard piece in the Art Philosophy bundle and sponge inked.

 Recipe:
Card Base: PTI Orange Zest 4" X 9 1/4" (folded)
Card front:   PTI Terracotta Tile 3 3/4" X 9, "DCWV 'Citrus stack' 3 1/4" X 8 3/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa, more from 'Citrus Stack', white
Ink:  SU Pumpkin Pie, PTI True Black (my favorite black!), Dusty Durango
Stamps: PTI Background Basics: Twinkle (dress) & Women of Life, Peachy Keen 'Everyday Character'
Accessories:  Cuttlebug & SU Square Lattice and D'Vine Swirl embossing folders, Cricut & Art Philosophy and Paper Doll Dress Up cartridges, PTI Orange Zest ribbon, CTMH Dimensional Elements Banners, brads

The hardest part of making a card this size is getting a good picture!
