Make a Card for a Cause!

Meet Larry!  He's just a regular fun loving boy except for one thing, Larry is fighting for his life.  He has Leukemia.  His parents say that, "Larry, as always, remains positive, thoughtful, joyful and for the most part without the difficult side effects we are told are coming."  You can read more about Larry's story HERE!

A friend of mine has been gathering Get Well Soon cards and I thought I could help her cause and ask you, my cyber friends to Make a Card for a Cause!  Wouldn't it be GREAT if we could send this little boy over a hundred cards!!!

Family Update!

Here are some pictures that we took on our trip to the Grand Canyon last weekend!

I hope you enjoy taking a little peek into my crazy life.

When I first started blogging, since I don't usually 'blog' on Sundays, I decided I would dedicate that day once a month or so to 'Family Updates' but since our church time has changed I've found it difficult to do even that.  Plus, my little blog has grown (YIPPEE!) and I don't want my crafting readers too bored with my family stuff!!  But I haven't done a family update is such a long time I thought it would be alright.  :)

We had sooo much fun but it was colder than I thought and the WINDY!

The oldest (still living at home) somehow escaped the camera most of the time.

I think I had to threaten driving privileges (he just got his permit) to get this one!

They would have been happy to just climb on rocks all day!

I love this one!

Big brother (by only 11 months to the other brother)!

I can't believe another week has come and gone and it's Saturday again, time for a new challenge!!

The challenge this week, the 4th week of the month, is Mix It Up week!  This time the challenge is Spring!  Let's see those Spring Projects, even though it might be a little premature.  You have until Friday night, March 2nd to link up your creation to get entered into the monthly drawing this week.  This is the last Saturday of the month so it's the last week to get entered into the monthy giveaway.

HIMCR #34 - Glitter! Glitter!

Happy Saturday!!  Today is a busy day for me; my college kids are here for the weekend and we want to squeeze a week long visit in two days!! 

The challenge this week, the 3rd week of the month, is Technique SATURDAY!  The technique is use GLITTER!!! That's it! It can be Glitter glue, actualy glitter, glitter paper or use them all!  I used a DCWV Glitter stack (2 different designs) and glitter glue, AKA Stickles!  You have until Friday, February 24th to link up your Glittery creation to get entered into the monthly drawing this week.   When uploading to online galleries please use the code HIMCR34.

Here's what I came up with (sadly, all my beautiful sparkle just doesn't show up in a photo):

Happy Valentine's Day!

I just love Valentine's Day and can remember doing up great little boxes with my older kids and filling them with candy.  Unfortunately in our school district here they don't allow it! :( 

My 2nd grade and I did sneak in a little Valentine's sucker in the cards she made (all by herself!).  She's so independent!  I thought I would share some of them with you.  I am so proud of her and her craftiness.  It truly bounds us together to have this wonderful hobby in common. 

The circles were cut using Cricut cartridges!

She worked on them on different days and used different cartridges.

Work on those Valentine's!!!

This was taken February 4th at the mother/daughter crafting day!

We had soooo much fun!! 

It's one of the best days of the year!!

I didn't take pictures of my kindergartener's Valentines but you should have seen my two boys (only one in K needing Valentines) working the ATGs to get them done!!  We didn't get a name list or anything but were told we COULD make some generic 'to my friend' Valentines that he could pass out.  We weren't going to make any but last night he changed his mind.  We (my husband and I) just cut out some heart layers in red and white.  My boys (5 and 6) worked together to stamp 'Happy Valentine's Day' and 'from:" and adhere them together.  Very simple but he was satisfied!   It was such a wonderful evening, working together as a family to get Valentines done for one child!  I little piece of Heaven on earth!

HIMCR #33 - Super Scraps Saturday

Happy Saturday!!

I whipped this card together from my scraps for a distant relative that is turning 85 soon.  We were contacted that since she lives so far away that it would be fun and exciting for her to get A LOT of cards on her special day!  I agree!!

Numbers were cut from Cricut American Alphabet on the E2 at 2.25".

Elegant Edges scrap cut at 2.5".  I had penciled it on the back!

Other Cardstock / Paper:   White, DCWV scrap from the Cirtrus Stack

Quick Thank You Card

Do you ever have one of those days were you feel like 'I HAVE to create SOMETHING today'?  Well, I was having one of those days.  I didn't have a lot of time.

Here's what I came up with:

I love making my own Background paper!

Sentiment frame was cut from Art Philosophy at 1 1/2".

Flower layers were cut from Forever Young cartrididge at 2".

I used dimensionals in between some of the layers and curled the edges.

Recipe:
Card Base: SU  Perfect Plum 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:    SU Marina Mist 4 1/8" X 5 3/8",  White (homemade BG) 4" X 5 1/4"

HIMCR#32 - Color Challenge

Happy Saturday!! 

I hope everyone is having a GREAT one!  I know I am because at this moment I am at a mother/daughter scrapbooking day with my seven year old.  It's one of our favorite days of the year! 

Today kicks off a new month of challenges!  So that means it's a color challenge this week.  The colors are Pink, Red, and White.  Of course, as always, you can create any paper project.  It doesn't have to be a Valentine's project, but it is February and love is in the air, I think.  I didn't make mine for Valentine's necessarily even though I guess I could put "Happy Valentine's Day" on the inside and use it as one.
