HIMCR #40 - Freestyle!

Happy Saturday!!

This week has been super busy for me.  My husband took the week off to get things cleaned up and fixed around the house because we are moving this summer!  YIKES!!  My husband is in the military and we knew this time was coming.  We have been here in Arizona for 5 years which is a looooong time for a military family.  Anyway, the Air Force will move us but we always get a truck and move some of it ourselves.  So, I spent this week while he was home to pack up some things.  You know those things you don't NEED or use everday but don't want to part with.  Also, I'm getting rid of some CRAP!

Thank goodness we have a wonderful design team because I didn't get very much time this week at all to get into my craft room.

The challenge this week is FREESTYLE!  So, ANYTHING goes!!  You have until Friday, April 6th to link up your creation to get entered into the monthly drawing this week.  When uploading to online galleries please use code HIMCR40.

Make a Card for a Cause!

I posted this a little while  ago and I can't believe the generousity of you crafters out there!  Thank you so much for all the get well cards for Larry!  He's had some good days and some bad days.  He continues to fight!!!

I thought I would post it again for any of you who didn't see the earlier post or was going to send a card and forgot or couldn't find the post.

Here's the original post:

Meet Larry!  He's just a regular fun loving boy except for one thing, Larry is fighting for his life.  He has Leukemia.  His parents say that, "Larry, as always, remains positive, thoughtful, joyful and for the most part without the difficult side effects we are told are coming."  You can read more about Larry's story HERE!

A friend of mine has been gathering Get Well Soon cards and I thought I could help her cause and ask you, my cyber friends to Make a Card for a Cause!  Wouldn't it be GREAT if we could send this little boy over a hundred cards!!!

Please send your Get Well Soon cards here:

Larry R.
9772 E Paseo Del Tornasol
Tucson, AZ   85747

If you don't have time to make and send a card please remember to keep Larry in your prayers.  The family contribute his lack of side effects so far to the numerous amount of prayers along with Larry's positive attitude.  What a great example Larry is to us all!!

Here's a fun cheery I made a while back (I'm so grateful to have cards on hand) and thought it would be perfect to send to Larry!

Whale was cut from Create a Critter at 3 1/4".

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Kiwi Kiss 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:  Crushed Curry 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:    DCWV The Glitter Stack, Black, Buckaroo Blue
Ink: Black Marker
Stamps:  SU Pun Fun
Accessories:  Cuttlebug & Tiny Bubbles embossing folder, Kiwi Kiss ribbon, Stampin Up punches, Cricut & Create a Critter cartridge

HIMCR #38 - KISS

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!  Do you have green on?  If not, watch out for those pinchers! LOL!

Ready for another challenge?

The challenge this week, the 3rd week of the month, is technique week.  The technique is KISS:  Keep it Simple Sweetie!  This will sort of depend on your style.  Like if you always use a lot of layers then keep it less, or less embellishments, just make it a simple project.  You have until Friday, March 23rd to link up your creation to get entered into the monthly drawing this week.  When uploading to online galleries please use code HIMCR38.
Here's what I came up with:

This challenge was hard for me!  I used no stamps, only some rub ons and I feel like this card really NEEDS
something, but I refrained from adding anything and 'kept it simple sweetie'!

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Buckaroo Blue 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:   SU Ruby Red 4 1/8" X 5 3/8", DCWV 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:   NONE!
Ink:  Ruby Red (sponged the edges)
Stamps:   NONE!
Accessories:  ONLY some scrap ribbon!

HIMCR #37 - Super Scraps Saturday!

Happy Saturday!!

The challenge this week, the 2nd week of the month, is SUPER SCRAPS SATURDAY!  So dig out those scraps and create any paper project.  You have until Friday, March 16th to link up your creation for this challenge and to get entered into the monthly drawing (still not pictured and posted, so sorry!).  When uploading to online galleries please use code HIMCR37.

Here's what I came up with:

I must admit here, that sometimes using scraps can be a real challenge for me!  I'm not completely satisfied with this card but it's about using those pieces of paper, cardstock, cut images, ribbon, etc. that are just being stored in a bin.  And that part I'm happy with!

These pieces cut from Elegant Edges cartridge were all in my scrap bin.  I have no idea the size!
I put them together and it fit a sentiment perfectly I really wanted to use and then I proceeded to force it to work for a card.
That was my first problem!!

Recipe:
Card Base: SU Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft) 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front:   SU Apricot Appeal 4 1/8" X 5 3/8", DCWV the Fall Stack 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper:  Garden Green
Ink:  Chocolate Chip
Stamps:  Verve 'Beautiful You'
Accessories:  Cuttlebug &Textile embossing folder, Cricut & Elegant Edges,  silk flowers, rhinestone brad, buttons

CTMH 'You & Me' Workshop Kit

Here's are some pictures of the pages I made using a Close to My Heart scrapbooking kit I mentioned earlier.  This is called 'You and Me'.  I couldn't find this kit in any of my catalogs and finally figured out that it was a buy $50 get this kit for $15.  I've had it for almost a year!

I have a couple of the other kits and really like them.  In fact I just ordered the Lucy kit, it has a stamp set that coordinates with the Art Philosophy cartridge!  You know I love that!  These kits are great for when you want to go out and scrap, but don't want to pack and pack and pack and pack!  I really hate packing and UNPACKING!!!  Here's a link to see the ones for sell right now:  Workshops on the Go!   I'm not a CTMH consultant just a happy and, if I do say so myself, a GOOD customer!

After making the 2 double page layouts there are enough materials left over to make bonus projects.  Be sure and check those out too!  You might need more materials for those.

Of course, mine aren't completely finished.  I still need to add pictures (like my white blank picture so far!?) and journaling, the hardest part of these pages!!  I completely just followed the instructions so can't take credit for anything but putting it together!  Perfect for a day when I want to craft but just am not feeling it!

Remember it's March, National Craft Month!!!  So get crafty!

If you need a reason to craft don't forget a Get Well card for Larry!

National Craft Month!

March is National Craft Month and I hope you all find time, if not everyday then at least more than usual, to craft, craft, craft!  For me it is literally therapy, to create, and use my mind for more than settling disputes with my darling wonderful but NORMAL children!!

I'm working on finishing up some scrapbook pages that I did using a Close to My Heart workshop on the go kit!  I don't have a lot of them but they are GREAT when you are going out to craft and don't want to pack up a lot of stuff or when you just aren't feeling it!

I hope to share them later today!

Remember, if you are looking for a reason and/or something to craft you can always make a Get Well card for little Larry (see yesterday's post)!
