Cricut Mats time and a giveaway!

I can't believe it's been, this month, 4 years since I shared on YouTube how I discovered how to make my Cricut mats sticky using Aleene's Tack it Over and Over! I still get questions and I appreciate all the positive response I've had. I just had to treat mine and thought it would be a good time to answer some questions and have a little giveaway!

The solution I use it 1 to 1. So equal parts of Aleene's Tack it Over and Over and water. Yes, it has to be that glue! I find it at JoAnn's or Michaels but not every one I go to has it in stock or carries it. If you ask someone that works there about it they will look at you like your crazy! Lol! I've also seen it sold online.
When my mats start loosing their sticky about half the time all I need to do is give my mats a could scrubbing with foamy kitchen soap, rinse, let them air dry, and they are back to usable! This gets the debris and bits of paper off and reveals the wonderful sticky again! Other times I just add the sticky solution following the video below. I do get asked about 'cleaning' the mats. You know, getting all the gunk completely off and making it completely unsticky. A little of the residue or discoloration doesn't bother me. They might look old but they work better than NEW! Buuuut, if it bothers you then you can use any glue remover to throughly clean it then apply sticky solution. Let me warn you, it is messy and don't get it on the carpet. Learned that the hard way. I just used goo gone and the scraper in the Cricut Essentials tool kit but I wish I hadn't, it's still a little sticky. I wish I had used instead a pampered chef scraper. I have so many of those, I wouldn't mind just throwing it away afterward.

I like to keep a mat that has lost its sticky somewhat for thinner papers. Cricut now sells them in different sticky strength. They are catching up with us and our great ideas!

Please keep the questions coming! My video I did soooo long ago and it feels out dated now. Maybe I should redo it.

To celebrate my 4 years youtube video anniversary I'm giving away a bottle of Aleene's Tack it Over and Over Glue! All you have to do to get entered into the giveaway is leave one comment on this post! You will have one week to enter and I will announce the winner next Wednesday.

Thanks to all my supporters! I appreciate each and every one of you! And I know that without you this wouldn't be any fun!

Does making Scraps Count?

Do you ever just have one of those weeks? Well, I am having one of those months, it feels like! I started this card the week of the Woman's Birthday challenge more than two weeks ago with sine major difficulty! So you have probably realized that I mostly use Stampin Up cardstock for solids anyway and I really like it. But I decided to use some Papertrey Ink that I have and everything was going great until I started to cut out my image on the Cricut Art Nouveau Cartrdige. You know the one that recommends cuts not be smaller than 3" or so. As always, I had my card base and front with some papers chosen to match out, cut, and the makings of, I think, a week put together card. Buuuuut when I went to cut out my image it was NOT going so well and I was cutting bigger than the recommended size! I decided to change my blade. That didn't help! It would cut but the edges weren't clean. Long story short, I had to switch to a matching Stampin Up color. The PTI cardstock would just not work for this more intricate image. Hopefully my blundering will save someone else the headache, the time, and the paper! While I did use a little bit of scraps digging through my Stampin Up paper, I certainly created a lot more of scraps to use on future Super Scraps challenge weeks! :)

Here's all my cuts!
They might look okay in the picture but up close they are jagged or torn.
Also, notice the big yellow piece.
After changing paper and cutting out the bird I cut out a circle using real dial size then went back to cut out a layer of the bird I had forgotten to cut and forgot to turn real dial size off! Grrrrrrrrr!

Today is the last day this week to get out your scraps and get entered into this weeks giveaway from Freckled Fawn! I am loving their stuff! I'm actually hoping to post again later today something using more Freckled Fawn embellishments that I started last week for the Halloween Colors challenge and yes, another frustrating story! But I have survived and for that I am stronger, I think?? :)

Here's what I finally came up with:

Rhinstones are from this week's sponsor Freckled Fawn!
And they are fabulous! They come on a nice dimensional, just peel and stick!
Awesome!

Humming Bird was cut, painstakingly, at 4" from the Art Nouveau Cricut cartridge.

Recipe:
Card Base: PTI Hawaiian Shores 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (folded)
Card front: Aqua Mist 4" X 5 1/4"
Other Cardstock / Paper: DCWV the Floral Fair Stack, SU Taken with Teal, Cameo Coral, Barely Banana, close to cocoa,
Ink: Taken with Teal
Stamps: CTMH Holiday Tags Occasions - I was going to cut our a coordinating sentiment tag but was too tired and just went with punches! I love that this set fits my favorite label punches!
Accessories: Cricut & Art Nouveau cartridge, Cuttlebug & Decorative Tile embossing folder, EK Success punhes, Dollartree $1 ribbon, CTMH Opaques Licorice, Freckled Fawn rhinestones

Wednesday Winners!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! I! unfortunately, have had a bit of a rough week. Monday night we had my daughter's Chinchilla out of her cage and in her play yard, like we do sometimes, and she jumped the fence and ran off the balcony. She didn't survive. My daughter was soooo distraught. It was hard for me to see her like that. She's better now! I don't know if it's the right thing to do, but we've already found her a new baby to love that will ready to pick up early November.

She loved her little Skippy!

Well, it's Wednesday and time for some good news! Winners! We have two this week!
